Kersey and Kersey Architects is a design studio driven by research and innovation. We embrace the idea that no two projects are identical, and research provides a factual foundation for the creative process. Each project presents a unique opportunity, and innovation provides the force for change and adaptation through the process of design.

Architecture is timeless and unavoidably ideological. At Kersey and Kersey Architects, we focus on human needs and social purpose. Our practice is a collaboration that derives strength from collective values and a sense of community. We work to improve our world one project at a time.

Kersey and Kersey Architects is not a practice of specialists but is a special practice. We do not specialize in a particular building type or program but have extensive experience in designing buildings that fit within the urban domain in which they are built. We respect the context, and it informs the design process. To do this, we leverage a team of highly qualified experts to shape outcomes that are context sensitive and functionally efficient.

As architects, we explore the idea that buildings and spaces are part of the larger public realm, and with each project we make a new contribution to that environment.  The environment is always present, and 
we work to improve that presence.  These founding principles have shaped our professional practice 
for over 30 years.

Urban conditions are created by architecture over time, that is architecture by extension becomes the city in time and place. Cities are an assemblage of myriad spaces and building types, and architects must have design dexterity to respond to a project’s role in that assemblage. We therefore prefer not to specialize in a particular building type but have extensive experience in the broad range of buildings across all typologies. We first want to understand the context of any project and we work to design a response to that context. A successful response will define the human scale, the presence of the environment and evolve an architectural aesthetic in dialogue with these conditions.
